This is an evaluation of the HVAC, plumbing, roof, and electrical. Typically, for older homes (30 years and over) to qualify for homeowners insurance.
- Wind Mitigation
This evaluation can help reduce the cost of your homeowner’s insurance. It helps to determine one or more construction features that will qualify you for insurance premium discounts.
The wind mitigation consists of inspecting the following categories:

- Roof covering – will determine the age of the roof and if it is up to current building code.
- Roof to deck attachment – determines what type of roof decking is used and how it’s attached to the underline structure.
- Roof to wall attachment – this is the biggest player. It determines how the trusses are attached to the exterior walls. It will determine whether there are hurricane clips, wraps, or double wraps.
- Roof geometry – will determine whether the roof is hip, gable, or other.
- Secondary Water Resistance Layer – A self-adhering polymer that gives added protection to prevent leaks.
- Opening Protection – Evaluation of shutters and/or protection devices from wind-born debris for doors and windows.
